CNN  ~  HEADLINE NEWS
The Glenn Beck Commentary - November 5, 2006 . . . is at best off-balance;
and at its worst, irresponsible and harmful. 

It is sad not to know one's old from one's new reality: There is a distinct difference between an old historical presence attempting a resurgence in the contemporary world -- such as Russia today -- and the role of the Western World as the defender against Islamic incursion.

All viewers must be alert not to be influenced by allowing their focus to be distorted.  Contrary to what was doled out in the above broadcast; the old and frayed sway of Russia is NOT the New Byzantine reality confronting the West today.  The struggle for survival rests foursquare upon The AMERICAS or NEW BYZANTIUM.

New Byzantium -- the same as Byzantium -- is synonymous to defense.  Therefore, the very implication that Russia is an aggressor, forecloses on its being a defender and thus the New Byzantium; which fallacy the above CNN-Glenn Beck commentary would have us accept in an obvious illogical, foolish, and self-destructive ploy to discredit Byzantium.

"THE  DISCOVERY  CHANNEL" exposed:

The following must be brought to the attention of viewers of
The Discovery Channel as regards the television presentation  titled,

The Battle for Rome: Constantine

Because of the serious omission of historical details, viewers are alerted to the fact that they are  deprived of the full interpretation of  events.  Therefore, those responsible for the program may either be considered ignorant of history and thus incompetent to make the presentation; or, they may stand accused as deliberate perpetrators promoting their own underlying agenda.

The program failed to mention at least the following two critical points:

 Despite the fact that Constantine the Great freed the defeated pagan Licinius, allowing him to live out his life with his wife [Constantine's sister] and their child; later, Licinius began to plot against Constantine, developing an alliance with the Goths.  This development  forced Constantine's hand, considering Licinius' ability to incite further the pagan population in the Empire.

The marriage of Constantine to Fausta [sister of the defeated Maxentius] was in effect destroyed by her familial intrigues that caused Constantine to execute even his own son, Crispus [beloved to him through a previous union].  The disposal of Crispus—Constantine's eminent successor—resolved her ambition to secure succession for  her own much younger offspring [with Constantine] and to install herself as mother empress.  The intrigue only produced her own tragic end.

Some alternate omissions in the said program include Constantius' [Constantine's father] crypto-Christian bend, as well as Constantine's rearing by his father together with his mother, Helen, and the effect of that rearing on Constantine's convictions and actions.

Viewers are  advised to observe with meticulous care the suspect cinematographic portrayal by The Discovery Channel showing Constantine reciting the Nicene Creed while Licinius is being terminated [consider that Licinius was executed early in 325, while the Council of Nicaea occurred later, on July 3, 325.  The pernicious design of the said presentation is quite evident].  It is also important to detect the insidious thrust of the said program suggesting that Christianity was established by a personality bent on killing.  Little or nothing is done in the program to explain Constantine's early and intense military upbringing and his remarkable resolve and ability to cope with the pressing reality of concurrent and complex military [frontier], social, civil, economic, and religious issues of consequence equal to and exceeding those of Alexander the Great.

Conclusion: The Discovery Channel fails.  It is questionable and unreliable.  It presses upon the viewers its own agenda of historical interpretation instead of allowing the viewers to form their own opinion based on the conveyance of pertinent information.

NOTE: The casting of the character in the role of Constantine is also a disaster.
This, observation, however, does not reflect on the acting ability of the performer.

Mother Church —Eastern Orthodoxy.

for ignorance (or propaganda?) in a presumed statement of history that
Eastern Orthodoxy is a second Christian religion.

IT IS TIME

     It is time for the world to recognize that the struggle against terrorism is not winnable unless
adjusted to reality.  Terrorism survives because it is a faceless force: it is elusive,
ever-changing, and capable at will to inject and to extricate itself any time at any place.
It is the nearest likeness to an all-encompassing hydra.

     Reality demands that terrorism be reduced to tangible and practical limits.
This can only be accomplished when terrorism is recognized as an existing state.
The difference is it must be cast as an undesirable or rogue entity -- anti-state -- always
destructive of all other states:  the equivalent of matter  vs. anti-matter.

This approach provides the lawful grounds on which the family of legitimate
nations will be able in a collective effort to effect the desired results.

        The premise of the article is that, “The real reason the West is in danger oextinction is . . . Demography . . .”

        It is the anti-Christian onslaught—both self-imposed and external—and the prostitution of moral, ethical, and cultural principles and values that pose the ultimate danger against Western Civilization.  It is neither territorial nor birthrate diminishment that causes this.  Many battles and struggles have been won by smaller yet integrated and principled powers against far greater masses with little to lose.
 

        The intrusion of numbers in population balances and the loss of territorial advantage are but symptoms of the degradation and weakening of idealistic integrity that forms the underpinning of Western Civilization.  Byzantium (the Hellenistic-Roman world) suffered this consequence by reason of self-betrayal and not because of Asiatic-Moslem prowess.  Likewise today, NEW BYZANTIUM (the Americas), in tandem once again with a treacherous Europe, is faced with the same challenge. There is no particular Moslem genius or strength other than its mere reactive and opportunistic feeding spree on the weakness of the West.  This includes the inordinate Moslem enrichment by reason of Western self-imposed and self-destructive energy and narcotic dependence.
