Pope John Paul II on Macedonia
By: Nikos Martis

Pope John Paul:

1.   By an Encyclical Letter (Egregial Virtutis) of December 31, 1980, named Cyril and Methodius,Greek brothers
born in Thessalonica, Heavenly protectors of Europe.

2.   By an Encyclical Letter of June 2, 1985,

a) In paragraph 1, he states: "I proclaimed the Saints Cyril and Methodius co-protectors of Europe by an Apostolic Encyclical Egregial Virtutis, that is dated December 31, 1980.  Thus, I rendered continuance to the tradition of my predecessor, especially Leo XIII, who over one hundred year ago, on September 30, 1880, expanded throughout the entire Church the reverence toward the two Saints with an Encyclical Letter Grande Munus.

b) In paragraph 21, he states: “The brothers of Thessalonica were the heirs not only of faith but also of learning, and of that of ancient Greece that was continued by Byzantium.  We also know what importance that heritage possesses for the whole of the European culture, and in a direct and indirect way for the global culture.

In reality, the cultures of the Slavic nations owe their provenance and their development to the achievement of the two brothers of Thessalonica.

It is worthy to mention the pronouncement of the Patriarch of Russia Alexei: “If the two Monastic Brothers were not, we Russians would be an Asiatic people with a religion in more likelihood Islamic and Europe would not exist.”

3.       In 1986 the Scopians deceived the Vatican and presented in a hall of the Vatican Byzantine-Hellenic icons as  though they were Macedonian.  Under intense complaint of the Archbishop of Athens, Serafim, Cardinal Bilebrans declared to the Archbishop of Australia, Stylianos, President of the Orthodox Commission, at the Orthodox Catholic Conference in Bari, “The Vatican was entrapped by the Scopians.”

Pope John Paul II sent a special letter on the matter to the Archbishop of Athens Serafim, and
prohibited the Cinematographic Company of the Vatican to make the film that was to be used in an
exhibit  for the deception of international public opinion, compromising the authority of the Vatican.

4.       While Pope John Paul on April 22nd spoke in Velehred of Czechoslovakia before    700,000 faithful at the Tomb of Methodious, he declared: “We do not encounter the cornerstone of United Europe only in Monte Casino, where Saint Benedict dedicated himself to the establishment of Latin Europe, but also here in Moravia, where the two Isapostoles [equal with the Apostles], Cyril and Methodius, etched out the Hellenic and Byzantine tradition of Europe.  That we Slavs are Christians, we owe it to them.”

5.      Pope John Paul gave a long interview to the Newspaper Eleftherotypia [Free Press] that was transmitted by word and transcript by Peter Dupre, Bishop Thebareos, Secretary General of the Pontifical Council of the Union of Churches, and it was published on June 21, 1992.

When correspondent Mary Pine delivered the book VERGINA by Manolis Andronikos, Pope
John Paul, in the presence of Ranking Officials of the Vatican, declared: “Macedonia is the birthplace of
Philip, Alexander, Methodius and Cyril.  Macedonia is Greek.”

[It is noted with deep regret that President George W. Bush opted to ignore the above learned counsel by recognizing the wrong name for that created state in contradiction to historical continuity and thus resulting in perpetuation of the fragmentation of the area.  NEW  BYZANTIUM.]

Expansion of Western Civilization: from Constantine the Great to Constantinople and Byzantium and onward to America

NEW  BYZANTIUM is The AMERICAS
We are sincerely pleased you have come to visit our Site and we extend to you our warmest greeting in the highest tradition of BYZANTIUM.  Our Principal goal is to impart to you heretofore intentionally little known facts about BYZANTIUM as the foundation of Western Civilization.  We will avoid knowingly withholding the truth as an aim to social disorientation.  Practice of historical deception must cease.  We hope that you will enjoy our contribution to the fullest.  Welcome.
Constantine the Great began his eventful climb in York, England and reached the apex of his achievement in Constantinople, the City that he founded and named after himself (Constantine+Polis [city]=Constantinople).  By means of these pages, our readers travel through time, touching upon the early periods, including that of Constantine, of historical Constantinople, and of Hagia Sophia—the nexus of the Christian world—to arrive at places and events of our present day.  Our readers reach the outermost limit to which both Eastern and Western Christian groups expanded, bringing forth the flower of Western Civilization.  That limit is the Western Hemisphere as a whole, and in particular the coast of California near San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge where the two groups converged  as they approached from the North and from the South.
